Proofreading Self-Published Books

HelbertOne fun benefit of proofreading books that are self-published is that the author will sometimes decide to give the proofreader credit on the copyright page or in the acknowledgments or preface. I have to admit, it’s pretty cool seeing my name printed in a book.

I just received a copy of a book I proofed that has come out in print: Sassy Gal’s How to Lose the Last Damn 10 Pounds, a funny, nontraditional, realistic book about eating healthy and staying active. (If it were a conventional “diet book,” I probably wouldn’t be promoting it here.) Congratulations to the author, Sharon Helbert, and the whole editorial and design team who worked on it!
